How to motivate a race car fan to be more academic?
My five-year-old son is obsessed with cars. Both real cars and toy cars. And the "Cars" movie, and NASCAR. He will stand in front of the TV holding a toy car, and, whenever a race car goes by, he will move his toy car fast with his hand, making it clear he's dreaming of driving one of those race cars.
How can I use that obsession to motivate him to become interested in academic stuff, such as reading, writing, arithmetic, etc.?
but him books about racing, use cars to show him arithmetic. As a young child I was also obsessed with NASCAR and cars in general. I used that to my advantage my senior year of high school and wrote a 20 page paper about NASCAR's cultural movement from the south.
