How do you forgive someone that never made an apology?
I feel jaded and would like to get over it and move on. The problem is that the person acknowledged what they did but didn't truly apologize. How do you forgive and forget in this situation? How can you move on and respect someone like this or care about them if they are family?
Talking to this person won't work because I tried that and there was no conversation. It was me talking to dead air.
Do it by rote at first. It may be hard at first, like you're trying to make your way through thick, jungle foliage, plants and trees..... pushing, getting stuck while vines grab you and try to hold you back...... but don't give up. Do it by rote at first and do it, no matter what.
Also, do it regularly and after a certain time (different in different cases) it will become second nature to you. One day you will either bump into them or hear their name mentioned and you'll notice you don't feel a cringe deep in your soul anymore. It will happen without you even knowing exactly when, but it WILL happen if you are faithful in doing your part.
